Origin 8 Scout 29er Single Speed
This was a build from the ground up. My only two requirements were steel & single speed. I found the frame locally on craigslist from a guy who bought it new, but never built it up. Aside from the dirt and dust from his garage, this frame was in "like new" condition and only $50. My inspiration was the Surly Karate Monkey. Frankly, I'm too cheap to pony up and buy one new so I pieced together my own version. Almost everything on this bike is pre-owned with the exception of the steel surly fork (these are nearly impossible to find used). The graphics on the frame were hideous, so the 1st order of business was a paint job. I had it professionally stripped and powder-coated a matte white. No decals or stickers on it. I was going for a minimalist, cop-car inspired look. I love how it turned out. I've been buying Origin 8 products for years but never a bike frame. I realize this is a budget steel frame, but it rides like a dream.
